JENNY'S INFLUENCE CARRIES DYLAN TO ANOTHER MILESTONE IN MUSIC

If you ask Dylan what pursuit he identifies most closely with (e.g. student, Scout, etc.) he will say, "trumpet player". And, of course, nobody has had a greater impact on his playing than his mom.

Last month, Dylan submitted an audition recording to the California All-State Music Educators Conference (CASMEC). For this entry, he used Jenny's laptop, software that she taught him to use, a microphone that Jenny got for him for this purpose, input from a trumpet teacher whom Jenny selected and a recording process detailed by her as well (e.g. start recording early, don't record more than one piece in one sitting, etc.). CASMEC is home to the farthest reaching and most well known competition for middle and high school trumpet players in California. And, for the third year in a row, Dylan recently found out he was one of the 50 or so trumpet players, out of a pool of several thousand, selected for All-State. He dedicates this one to his mom.

Just as he did last year, Dylan will go to Fresno just prior to Presidents' Day Weekend to rehearse for four days. His All-State band will perform on February 19.
